Note:  In the c:\cetut1\ folder there are several StepX.max files.

These are for you to look at to see what I am talking about below.  They are numbered in order from 1 to 9.

 

1. Open up 3D Studio Max 4

2. Create a square plane 3000x3000 with 20x20 Segments

3. Add a displace modifier to the plane with a strength of 300 and using the image you created: c:\cetut1\tga\displace1.tga

 

4. Open up the Material Editor by selecting Rendering>Material Editor (or hotkey=M)

5. Hit the get material button

6.Double click on CE Map making from 

   Browse From: Mtl Library

7. Load the water material in the top right slot

8. Load color2.tga to the top right 

    CE map making diffuse channel

9. Drag and drop the CE map making material to your map mesh.

 

10. Set up your lights as in Step1.max

11. Set Max to render Box Selected and render your map from the top view at 512x512 pixels.

12. Save the rendered image as C:\cetut1\tga\shadowed.tga

13. In Paint Shop Pro, open up C:\cetut1\tga\shadowed.tga

14. Set your grid options to look like these:

15. Start from the top right and work left to right, top to bottom saving your images as ImageX.tga (x=the number)

16. Go back into 3D Studio Max 4
